Tjoonz Design v6.0 Part 1

In the past few months I've been tinkering with a new design for Tjoonz. Progress has been sporadic, as I work on it in my spare-time. Shortly after I moved back to The Netherlands I met this sweet girl who - naturally - gets most of that spare-time. Uploads for Tjoonz have been slow and far in between as well, as I'm also still looking for a job and looking for places to live. Anyways, before I derail this blog post to be a Life Stream post, here's a little status update on the progress of the new design so far. Lets drop a screenshot first.

What you see is the frontpage. The footer isn't visible yet, which is good because it's not finished yet. Trust me it looks pretty crap right now. The fluffy stuff is just some filler content to get all the content loops filled. As you can see clearly here, News (blue) and Connect (green) have been replaced by House and Techno respectively. I quite like the Technoviking reference, but CK isn't fond of it, so it's probably going to be changed before v6.0 goes live.

While typing this I am still developing Single.php (the code which only shows a single mixtape on the screen, with cover art and tracklist etc.). I've finished implementing and styling the streaming player, which is no longer solely based on Flash for playback. This should eliminate the playback issues some users had before with our hotlink protection. It is also good news for mobile users, as the player makes use of HTML5 as well. iPhone users and such can now play back audio without the need of a Flash plugin.

I have many more planned features in the new design, but I'll save them for the next update post. Stay Tjooned people!
